Hello from Austin, Texas!


This week I will be attending the TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) conference in Austin.  This is a week of collecting and sharing everything "tech-y".  I am excited to present Google Forms at the conference as my first official out-of-district paid presentation!  When I'm not presenting I will be learning and gathering as many resources as possible to share with you!  I hope to blog many of these resources throughout the week.

Did you know every app has to be on sale or FREE at least once a year?  Don't have time to search for the free ones yourself?  Check this blog out! This is one of my favorite blogs to visit!  I can't remember who runs it, but I met her at an area TENOR meeting (a meeting of integrations specialists from several surrounding districts).  She scours iTunes for FREE and on-sale Apps every day and posts what she finds!  It's a great way to get a good deal on educational apps!

This little button at the top of my blog was bothering me.  If you've ever clicked it and ended up on some inappropriate blog then I'm sure you understand why.  I found a way to get rid of it! Yay!  If you share your blog with students/parents it might be a good idea, and it wasn't too difficult.  Here's the link to the directions I found:

I've added HumanCalendar to my blog! If you haven't seen this site yet, go check it out.  Not sure how to use it in the classroom, but I find it very entertaining!  You can add it to your blog and it will show the current date when someone visits your page.  There is a link at the bottom of the site for "portable" calendars.  Enjoy!

MailChimp

MailChimp

I'm testing out MailChimp as a way to subscribe to this blog via email.  Not really sure how that's going to work, but if you'd like to be a guinea pig for me click the subscribe link in the right menu area and get signed up. Once you click the link you will fill out a simple form.  Then you will have to go to your email and confirm your subscription.  I've set the email to go out each day at 9:00pm (Central).  So anytime I have a new post, it will show up that night in your email! (At least that's what the Chimp tells me!)  I think it will also automatically send out a Tweet and post to my Facebook Page.  Like I said, I'm just trying it out, so I may play around with those settings and see what I really want it to do.


MailChimp is FREE and seems like a great way to manage email marketing and it will auto-create an email for your blog via RSS feed.  If you have a class blog this might be a great way to send it out to parents! My First Blog Post

Ok Internets, here it is, my first blog post. I know, I know... it’s about time!  My goal for this blog is to capture my thoughts about Technology and Technology Integration in the classroom.  I will make an effort to post at least once a week.  I will post lesson ideas, new discoveries (apps, gadgets, reading recommendations, etc), lessons learned (stories of success and failure), and other random thoughts.  I hope it will become a space where educators can learn, share, and reflect about technology and technology integration in the classroom.
